On Gutsy, you just have to use APT (sudo apt-get install transmission-gtk) or its interface, Synaptic (package “transmission-gtk”)
Note that you don’t need the package “transmission” because all its files are included in trabsmission-gtk

OK the link is gone so I tried the last stable version and did all the compiling, installing tricks but all I get is

bash: transmission-gtk: command not found

Any ideas??

I’ve put up an updated version, but the command is sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.9.7 /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.5 .

addendum: I found libcrypto.so.5 in /usr/lib/ It is a link to /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.9.7 so I assume it should work. Unfortuantely it doesn’t. Any ideas?

I did the install but when I try to run I get this error:

error while loading shared libraries: libcrypto.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

How do I get libcrypto.so.5 installed? I thought dependency checking was handled automatically when stuff got installed in Linux these days.

This is a different .deb from what I installed; I assumed they would both use transmission-gtk as the program’s name.

I’ll edit it with the one that I used.
